The Reimagined Cleanse Programme

A RHYTHM FOR RENEWAL IN PHUKET

Nutrition 5 Minute Read

Unlike typical cleanses, the COMO Shambhala Cleanse Programme isn’t a test of willpower or restriction. The enhanced programme at COMO Point Yamu focuses on recalibrating the body in real time, with new diagnostic tools, personal training sessions, and science-backed strategies behind every juice.

Most people know, on some level, what a healthier routine would look like. What trips them up is rarely a lack of information — it's the sugar habit that's hard to shake, or the sense that there's never a right time to start.

The new Cleanse Programme at COMO Point Yamu, Phuket, was designed with these obstacles in mind. Guests settle into a new rhythm over the three days, starting with an InBody scan (a non-invasive body composition test) upon arrival. Mornings begin with lemon and ginger-infused water, followed by a cold-pressed juice suited to that day's plans. A light, balanced breakfast comes next, then a mid-morning pause for turmeric and lemongrass-scented bone broth. Lunch is a fresh salad, paired with coconut water, brightened with lime and a pinch of sea salt.

The hours in between are set aside for movement. Guests can join the daily schedule of yoga or mat Pilates, Muay Thai, or opt for a one-on-one personal training session, newly introduced to give the programme a more structured, guided approach to exercise. The day winds down with dinner — poached, ginger-scented snapper or free-range chicken with lightly-cooked vegetables — another glass of lemon and ginger water, and an hour of quiet journaling. At the end of the programme, a final InBody scan, to understand what feels different.

The InBody scan uses low-level electrical currents to measure key metrics like weight, muscle mass, body fat percentage, and more. Each measurement tells us something different — muscle mass helps us understand strength and metabolic health, visceral fat gives insight into long-term health risks, hydration reflects recovery and overall wellbeing, while basal metabolic rate helps estimate the body's resting energy requirements. These measurements are then used to personalise the guest’s stay.

“After just three days, we don't expect to see dramatic changes in body fat or muscle mass,” says Tukta, Wellness Supervisor at COMO Point Yamu. “What we may see are small improvements in hydration, along with reduced water retention and bloating, particularly as guests begin eating more mindfully and supporting their digestive system.”

This is where the specialised Cleanse menus come in. Developed by dietitian Eve Persak, the juices and dishes are designed to be nutritious and therapeutic, yet delicious and satisfying. The foundation of the menu is plant-forward, with two options available.

The Beginner menus offer modestly-sized meals and snacks, for guests who prefer or need a greater degree of nourishment throughout the day. The Advanced menu emphasises digestive rest, featuring liquids and purees – such as infused teas, juice extractions, smoothie blends, yoghurts, and soups which allow for nutrient absorption with less effort. The bone broths and coconut water ensure adequate hydration and electrolyte replenishment.

Every juice is freshly prepared and crafted to deliver targeted wellness benefits. All are completely free from added sugars — including natural sweeteners like honey and agave — or concentrated fruits, such as dried fruits. Instead, they feature curated combinations of colourful, locally sourced, and seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs, and lower-in-sugar fruits, to lightly sweeten the taste.

“Glycemic stability is an important aspect of the programme. Blood sugar levels can become more variable during periods of stress and poor sleep. These are also times when food choices are driven by comfort and convenience,” says Persak. “Guests often don’t recognise the prevalence of sweeteners and refined carbohydrates in their meals or their tendency to reach for little treats between meals or before bed.  A window of time dedicated entirely to real foods with real flavours helps to reset the mind and interrupt less desirable eating patterns.”

The programme also introduces guests to principles of balanced nutrition that they can continue at home. Ample fruits and vegetables increase exposure to a diverse array of nature-made vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Fibre-rich whole grains and root vegetables — such as quinoa, oats, buckwheat, and sweet potato — promote sustained energy and digestive health. High-quality, unprocessed proteins prolong satiety and preserve muscle; and fermented foods provide beneficial bacteria to support a healthy gut microbiome and digestion.

“We want to emphasise on whole-food nutrition for health, rather than simply reducing food intake. The guests feel nourished and energised, and are able to participate in physical activity as usual,” says Tukta. “The emphasis is not on pushing performance or achieving maximum intensity. Instead, we focus on improving movement quality, restoring balance, supporting recovery, and helping guests reconnect with their bodies.”

It’s no surprise then, that guests often come away from the programme feeling inspired. While they may notice improvements in energy, digestion, hydration, or reduced bloating, it is the  sense of renewal that continues to motivate them long after their stay.  “The greatest outcome is that they leave with practical knowledge, healthier habits, and the confidence to continue making better food choices upon returning home. The lasting transformation begins after the programme, not during the three days.”
